He's awesome, gorgeous, funny, though at times a complete insensitive jerk...er...and...kind of lazy, too... not to mention he mooches a lot... and he tends to be a little rowdy and mean-tempered... did we mention he drinks, gambles, and fights like a rabid, starving dog over a peice of meat? Er... well... anyways--he's awesome, gorgeous, and funny!! ^^ Love him!!!!!!!!

I like Sanosuke's appearance a lot in the later bits of the anime, where he looks more mature and less boyish. I love his eyes the best... when he looks sad like at the right, it makes me want to hug someone..... XP Thus, brown eyes are a weakness of mine. LOL!

Appearance in features can be summed up to dark chocolate eyes, spiky brunnete hair, lightly tanned skin and average height. Sanosuke has an extremely lean build, as well.
Usually donned in a white karate uniform emblazoned with the Aku ("Evil" or "Wicked"), along with a red wristwrap on the left arm, and bandages from the mid-torso down to his toes. Black slip ons cover his feet, and a red bandanna is tied around his forehead and through his hair.

His Past...
Higashidani Sanosuke ran away from his home in Shinshuu at the age of nine, to join the Sekihou-tai; a revolutionary army. There he met his father figure, Sagara Souzou, the captain of the Sekihou-tai. However, less than a year after Sanosuke's acceptance into the army, the revolutionary government destroyed the Sekihou-tai and killed all of it's members, lying to the people that the reason was because the Sekihou-tai was a false army. No one survived the massacre except Sanosuke and his friend Katsuhiro, but they were seperated and neither knew of the other's survival.

Torn by sorrow and hate for the government, ten-year-old Sanosuke changed his name to Sagara Sanosuke in honor of his captain after seeing him publicly excecuted on March 3, 1870. Also, in honor of his dead Sekihou-tai comrades, Sanosuke put the Aku ("Evil" or "Wicked") on the back of his jacket, as a sign that the government had named the innocent as evil. As he grew older, Sanosuke made a lifestyle for himself in the red light district of Tokyo--as a fight merchant, someone who agrees to beat up a certain person and then makes his price depending on how much he enjoyed the battle. Filled with confusion and hatred, Sanosuke soon became labeled as Zanza, which means "death by decapitation," because of his giant sword, called the Zanbatou ("horse-killer"). Those who fought him were said to be plagued by nightmares of the Aku on his back for months.
At the age of nineteen, Zanza sold a fight to a man looking for revenge on the Hitokiri Battousai, aka the rurouni ("wanderer" or "vagabond") Himura Kenshin. Pleased with the offer, Zanza agreed and engaged in battle with Kenshin, ultimately defeated. Kenshin helped Zanza to realize that living a life of hatred to honor the Sekihou-tai wasn't the correct way to live. Instead, Kenshin taught Zanza that he should go on living a life of honor and morality, protecting the innocent, and punishing the evil, to bring glory to Captain Sagara; continuing the revolution to find equality and peace. Upon understanding what Kenshin was trying to say, he and Zanza became friends. Claiming his identity was no longer Zanza the Fight Merchant, Sagara Sanosuke dropped his career as a fighter and resumed life as a carefree, mooching punk.
I like this picture a lot! Sano seems to like watermelon... I have at least four pictures of him eating or holding some.
